About the Magic for Miracles program:

In March 2005, after learning that one of their member’s children was battling cancer, the Mingus Magic Club decided to do something. They began planning a benefit magic show from which all of the proceeds would go to the Lafferty family to help with medical expenses. Sadly Shelli Lafferty, of Collegeville, PA lost her battle with neroblastoma, a form of childhood cancer, on Christmas day 2005 at the age of three. The Lafferty’s decided to instead donate all of the proceeds to Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation. Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation is a charity started by a young cancer victim Alexandra Scott. Sadly both children suffered from neroblastoma, the same form of cancer. In April 2006 two magic shows were held on the campus of Ursinus College, in Collegeville, PA. Those magic shows raised $2,354.00. In September 2007 the second Magic for Miracles show was put on at the St. Puis High School, in Pottstown, PA. That event raised $4,231.00. Giving the Magic for Miracles program a total of $6,585.00 raised to date. Every penny of which went to Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, in memory of Shelli Lafferty. Shelli Lafferty, daughter of Daniel, magician and member of the Mingus Magic Club, and Lynne Lafferty of Collegeville, PA, was born in Phoenixville, PA on October 16th 2002. She was diagnosed with cancer on March 19, 2005, at the age of two and a half. She courageously fought this disease until her passing on December 25th 2005. Shelli is survived by her parents Daniel and Lynne Lafferty, and her brother Daniel “DJ”.

Remember:

100% of the money raised with ticket sales, online donations, and the sale of lemonade and baked goods at the show goes directly to Alex’s Lemonade Stand in memory of Shelli Lafferty. Everyone involved with the show donates his or her own time to make this event special.
